This is Campus Look. Welcome.

Campus Look is an interactive photo gallery recording Leeds University's unusual campus.

Each fortnight, photographers are challenged to find and capture something special amid the awesome jumble of the Leeds campus. The latest photos are below; the archive is in the sidebar.

Anyone can join in. How? Check the latest challenge (in the most recent post), make your photo and send it- no more than 1000 pixels wide or 700 pixels high - to the email address below. Your submission will be displayed in the next post.

If you would like to join the Campus Look mailing list, just send an email.

Sunlight

To the left we see the results of the voting on the Lunch pictures. Not many votes were cast - can't blame me; I voted. And since I voted for my own picture - and Alex is away walking across the country and so couldn't vote for his own - it seems only right that, faced with a draw, I should concede the favourite spot to his 'Working Lunch'.

It's a shame he won't get to see it up there whilst he is in the middle of nowhere.

Please vote for at least one of these lovely 'sunlight' shots. (There's nothing to stop you voting for more than one...)

There has been a better response this time around - thank you to those who sent pictures. I hereby remind you of the Campus Look schedule:

4 August - Extras - anything from any previous challenge goes, like last time.

18 August - Challenge Number 7: green

1 September - Challenge Number 8: concrete

Looking forward to some nice, jolly summer pictures now the sun is out. Take inspiration from the below...

Lunch

Before I begin, I will draw your attention to the results of the rooftop vote, to the left here. Picture number 9 sneaks in by a narrow margin, and sits proudly in the favourite spot in the sidebar. Voting is now open on the latest round.

Well... After a long break, and still without at-home Blogger access, I'm back. I think the images on show today give away how much of a lunch 'break' we all manage to take, as, indeed, does the number of images in the gallery.

Anyway, you're in no position to complain because this weekend (28th of July) will see the posting of the 'sunlight' pictures - a posting which will say as much about our weather as this post does about our workload, I expect. You have almost a week left for that, so please try and get a last-minute picture in if you haven't sent one so far.

Some of you think it's childish, I know, but I still believe in the old legend that tells of a time when the sky was literally blue. The sun's dull glow burst out so furiously that people said it was like 'rays' of light that, unlike feeble raindrops, could 'pour' through windows. Perhaps some Campus Lookers' elderly relatives will have pictures from that time stored in their attics: I would certainly accept them along with more recent scenes.

After that, on the weekend of the 4th of August, I will be posting another 'Extras' gallery. Any photos, new or old, relating to past challenges will go in there, so if you have some that weren't ready at the original deadline, send them in.

Finally, then, your new challenges:

Challenge Number 7: green (deadline 18 August) - something the rain will have helped with.

Challenge Number 8: concrete (deadline 1 September)

Do remember to try and capture the campus in some way with your pictures, and feel free to interpret the challenges broadly.

Ok, lunch time: click the images for enlargements, hit F11 in Internet Explorer for a full screen.

Don't forget to vote for your favourite!

Recent Quietude

Just a note to show that Campus Look is still alive and not forgotten.

A change of address has absorbed my time for the last week or so, so no 'Lunch' for you yet.

What this means is that you have new deadlines for Challenges Numbers 5 and 6, and you will presented with new challenges at the next posting. (I know some of you have cameras, and have lunch, and have not sent me pictures! Here's your chance to make amends.) Please submit your pictures as follows

Challenge Number 5: lunch( deadline 21st July)

Challenge Number 6: (even more optimistically now) sunlight (deadline 28th July)

To those who have recorded your lunches for me, thank you, and sorry for the delay. To those who have sent late submissions for previous challenges, thanks; they will be posted in a few weeks in another 'Extras' gallery.

Rooftop voting is still open, by the way, and will remain open until the 'Lunch' post.

Watch this space.
